Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.
A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications by means of the internet.
The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offences.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.
"These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no about their safety.
"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not understand the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
